What Every Bride Should Know About a Bridal Airbrush™ Tan

First, congratulations on booking a trial. A bridal tanning trial is one of the best ways to determine whether the color created for you is truly the color you want for your wedding and the events leading up to it.
A trial allows the Airbrush™ Tanning Artist to observe how the formula develops on your skin, how it photographs, and whether any thoughtful refinements should be made before the wedding day.

Your Skin Type Comes First
The most important part of creating a beautiful bridal tan is identifying the bride’s skin type.
The formula should then be created with the appropriate DHA percentage for that individual complexion. DHA is the tanning ingredient responsible for developing color on the surface of the skin.
Very fair skin generally requires a lower DHA percentage. When a formula is too strong for the client’s skin type, the result may appear much darker than intended, overly warm, or unnatural.
This is why we do not work from predetermined shade numbers or simply select “the lightest shade.” A formula should be created around the bride’s skin type, undertone, natural coloring, and the result she wants to achieve.
Why We Do Not Use Rapid Solutions for Brides
I do not recommend rapid tanning solutions for brides.
A bridal solution should feel like silk on the skin—smooth, clean, lightweight, and beautifully luminous. It should develop gradually and evenly, allowing the finished color to look seamless and believable.
For such an important occasion, the goal is not simply speed. The goal is control, consistency, and a result that looks as though the color has always belonged to the bride.
Do Not Sleep in Your Developing Tan
I also do not recommend sleeping overnight while the color is developing.
Some clients naturally become warm or perspire while sleeping. This can interfere with the development process and may lead to uneven areas, lines, or marks.
Whenever possible, brides should schedule their appointments in the morning. This allows the color to develop throughout the day and gives the bride time to complete her first rinse before going to bed.
Timing Matters
For engagement photos, bridal showers, and the wedding itself, I generally recommend receiving the Airbrush™ Tan two days before the occasion.
This timing allows the bride to complete several rinses before getting dressed for the event. The initial cosmetic bronzer is removed, the formula has time to settle beautifully into the skin, and the finished color appears softer and more natural.
It is also essential to follow the exact development time provided by the artist—what I call the marinating time.
Leaving the solution on longer does not necessarily create a better result. It may cause the color to become darker than intended, and the excess development can contribute to a less even-looking fade over the following days.
When the formula is rinsed at the correct time, the color is more likely to develop evenly and gradually fade in a way that resembles a natural tan.
What About the White Dress?
It is completely understandable for a bride to worry about transfer onto her wedding dress.
This is why every part of the process matters:
The solution should be clean and appropriate for the bride’s skin. The skin should be properly exfoliated and prepared so the formula develops evenly. The bride should follow the recommended rinse timing and use the correct aftercare products to support and protect the tan.
A beautifully prepared canvas helps the color remain on the skin where it belongs.
The Bridal Standard
The key to a beautiful bridal result is not choosing a shade from a chart.
It is matching the bride’s skin type with the appropriate DHA percentage, creating the formula around her complexion, respecting the correct development time, and preparing the skin so the finished color appears smooth, luminous, and believable.
The best bridal tan should never announce itself as a spray tan.
It should simply make everyone notice how extraordinarily beautiful the bride looks.
