When should I schedule my airbrush tan?

The answer depends on what you are preparing for. A wedding, vacation, photoshoot, or special event each has its own ideal glow window—the time your color needs to fully develop, settle beautifully into the skin, and look its very best.

Your skin type, undertone, formula, and desired depth of color also influence when your appointment should be scheduled.

Here is how to find the right glow window for your plans.

A Same-Day Pick-Me-Up

Sometimes, you simply want a little color before dinner, a celebration, or a night out.

A same-day appointment can work when you are receiving an express airbrush tan and have enough time to allow the color to develop before rinsing.

However, your color will continue developing after your first rinse. Although you will have a beautiful glow that evening, the complete result will become more visible the following day.

Before a Vacation

For a vacation, schedule your airbrush tan the day before your departure.

This gives the color time to develop and allows you to complete your first rinse before traveling.

We never recommend receiving an airbrush tan on the same day as your flight. Airport rushing, tight clothing, luggage, prolonged sitting, and changes in temperature can interfere with the developing color.

Arrive at your destination already glowing, freshly rinsed, and ready to enjoy your vacation.

Weddings and Important Events

For weddings and other major events, the ideal glow window is generally two days before the event.

This allows the color to fully develop and beautifully settle into the skin before the celebration.

For very fair or lighter skin, two days is especially important. It allows the initial color to soften and become even more natural-looking.

When we create a formula for a wedding or important event, we also consider the dress, makeup, hair color, skin tone, undertone, and the overall look the client wants to achieve.

The goal is never for the tan to overpower you. The goal is for everything to come together seamlessly.

Bridal Trials

A bridal trial should be scheduled before the wedding tan so we can observe how the formula develops on your skin.

During the trial, we assess your skin type and undertone, create the formula, and determine when the color looks its best—whether that is the following day, two days later, or three days later.

We then use that information to select the ideal appointment day and timing for the wedding.

A bridal trial removes the guesswork. It allows us to understand your skin and create a clear plan for your wedding glow.

Photoshoots and Headshots

For professional photos, branding sessions, engagement pictures, and headshots, schedule your airbrush tan two days before the photoshoot.

The camera can capture color differently from the way it appears in person. Allowing the tan to settle creates a softer and more natural finish under professional lighting.

The correct formula can also bring warmth and dimension to the skin without making the color appear too strong on camera.

Proms and Formal Events

For prom, galas, and formal celebrations, schedule your airbrush tan the day before the event.

For very fair skin, we may recommend coming in two days before so the color has additional time to soften and settle.

Your manicure, pedicure, waxing, and other beauty appointments should always be completed before your airbrush tan whenever possible.

Sorority Rush

For Sorority Rush, schedule your airbrush tan the day before leaving for campus.

This gives you time to complete your first rinse and begin your week with fresh, even color.

Because Rush can include long days, warm weather, and multiple outfit changes, proper preparation and hydration are especially important for maintaining the glow.

Skin type, undertone, hydration, medications, previous sun exposure, and the formula created for you can all influence how the color develops and when it looks its best.
